The recipe for good web development with Razvan
Razvan is one of the talented web developers that has a strong discipline and work ethic. He is constantly on a lookout to contribute beyond his technical expertise and is a great sparring partner for business focused roles. His athletic build would give away his preference for sport, though few would guess he has his own cooking show “Recipes with Razvan” – currently just for family and friends, and sometimes at our company retreats as well.
Why did you join FXBITS and what has kept you here?
I have joined FXBITS when I was looking for a new opportunity that would allow me to evolve as a software developer. After working for +3 years for a different company, I felt the need for a change that would be beneficial for both the company and my career.
The most encouraging aspect that keeps me here is the people’s culture. I am proud of my colleagues’ achievements, and I always feel motivated to do my best in such a hard-working, passionate environment.
How has FXBITS helped you in your career development?
In FXBITS I feel that the employees’ satisfaction is one of the core values of the company. I got the opportunity to grow both my technical skills and soft skills.
The training offered either on demand from us or proposed by the management was truly welcomed. For example, I got the chance to take part in a functional programming training offered by Java Champion Victor Rentea, but also to certify as a SAFe Scrum Master and enhance my knowledge about Agile software development at scale.
What are your primary responsibilities and what does your day-to-day look like?
At the moment, I am working as a Front-End developer for a healthcare platform for one of our customers. Within this project, I am responsible for implementing the user interface and the user flows for both desktop and mobile devices.
I often have to interact with the product owner, designers, testers, and of course, my fellow developer colleagues, to make sure that the implemented behavior is the one intended by the customer. I enjoy it because I have clear feedback from my peers that my suggestions are taken into consideration.
This makes me feel proud of being able to bring value to the project. On the technical side, I am also very satisfied because we have the freedom of choosing the latest frameworks and technologies to work with.
How do you spend your time outside of the office?
When it comes to my spare time outside the office, I try to stay outside as much as possible. I like having a balanced lifestyle and compensate for the static time in the office with as much physical activity as possible outside working hours.
I enjoy tougher activities like kickbox training, or enduro riding, but also a calm walk in the park, or swimming for a few laps, depending on my mood. You know what they say: “Healthy mind in a healthy body”.
For rainy days or when I feel like staying indoors, my leisure activity of choice is cooking. I absolutely love to cook and enjoy a homemade meal together with my girlfriend.
How do you define success in life?
Success is a very subjective matter, so everyone has his interpretation of it. In my opinion, success is not measurable by any finite numeric value, or by physical assets.
I believe being successful means being happy and at peace with yourself. It means that you are enjoying your trade, you have a healthy relationship with your family, and you are making a difference in the world.
How do you describe your work personality vs. your home life personality?
It is pretty difficult to distinguish between the two of them at this point. During these past years at FXBITS, colleagues became friends. I have people with who I can ask for advice but also to go out and have a beer.
During working hours, I keep a more formal profile as it is professionally appropriate, but after a day of work, I also feel comfortable telling jokes or planning weekend trips with the same people.
What's your favorite quote, or motto?
“When was the last time you did something for the first time?” I deeply resonate with this question, and I believe every one of us should ask ourselves this question from time to time. It is important to never stop learning new things. This is what keeps us curious about the world around us and what keeps us young at heart and ready to try new experiences.
If you had to eat one meal, every day for the rest of your life, what would it be?
This is a difficult question because I like a lot of foods, but I also want to stay healthy. Usually, my favourite food choices are not necessarily the healthiest. This being said, I will go with my morning cereal bowl. I believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, so I do my best never to skip it. I try to keep it healthy a well, by mixing some oats, pumpkin seeds, almonds, a teaspoon of honey, yogurt, and some berries. It tastes delicious and it keeps me energized for the first part of the day. I recommend you to give it a try!
